Revenue Forecast Calculator

Compounding is unintuitive, which is why revenue plans built by adding a flat amount each month are usually wrong in both directions. Enter your current monthly revenue and a growth rate to see where the maths actually lands.

FormulaFuture monthly revenue = current monthly revenue × (1 + growth rate)^months

Worked example

$180,000 a month growing 6 percent monthly reaches about $362,192 in month 12, a 2.01x multiple, with roughly $3,036,584 of cumulative revenue across the period. The final month alone adds about $20,501 of new revenue, which is more than the first three months of growth combined.

What to watch for

Sustained 6 percent monthly growth is a genuinely strong rate, and very few businesses hold it for a full year without either a new channel or a new product. Treat any projection beyond about 12 months as a scenario, not a plan.

This model assumes growth compounds smoothly, which real demand does not. If your business has seasonality, forecast by month against last year's shape and use the compound rate as a sanity check rather than the source of truth.

The honest version of this exercise is three projections: conservative, expected and optimistic. A single number gives a board false confidence and gives operations nothing to plan capacity against.

Frequently asked questions

What monthly growth rate should I use?

Use your own trailing six-month average rather than an ambition. If that average is 3 percent, a forecast built on 10 percent is not a forecast, it is a wish with a spreadsheet attached.

Why does the total revenue look so high?

Because it sums every month in the period, not just the final one. The final month figure is your run rate, and the total is what passes through the business across the whole window. Confusing the two is a common budgeting error.
