Posting Frequency Calculator
Most content calendars fail on arithmetic, not ambition. This takes the hours you actually have, the real time a post takes to make, and tells you the cadence you can hold without burning the team out in month two.
Result
FormulaPosts per channel per week = original posts (hours available ÷ hours per post), divided across channels after accounting for the share you repurpose rather than create fresh
Worked example
22 content hours a week at 1.5 hours per post produces about 14 original posts. With 40 percent repurposed across 3 channels, that supports 7 posts per channel per week, 23 published slots in total, and roughly 30 posts per channel per month.
What to watch for
Hours per post is the input everyone lies about. Time three real posts end to end, including the review cycle and the revision nobody planned for, before you trust this number.
Consistency beats volume on every platform I have run. Three posts a week held for a year outperforms ten a week abandoned in March, because the algorithms reward reliable supply and audiences build a habit around it.
Repurposing above roughly 60 percent starts to show. The same asset reformatted is fine, the same asset copy-pasted across channels reads as a brand that is not paying attention.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I actually post?
As often as you can sustain at quality for twelve months. For most teams that is three to five times a week per primary channel. Pick the number this calculator gives you, not the number a case study gives you.
Is it better to post more on one channel or spread across three?
One channel, until it works. Splitting a small production capacity across three channels usually produces three accounts nobody follows. Win one, then use the repurposing leverage to expand.
