CPC Calculator

Cost per click is the cleanest unit price in paid media: what you pay for one person to arrive. Enter spend and clicks to get your CPC, and see how many clicks the same budget buys if you move the price.

Extra clicks if you hit target379Negative means your target is more expensive than what you already pay.

FormulaCPC = total spend ÷ clicks

Worked example

Spending $3,200 for 1,450 clicks gives a $2.21 CPC. Getting that to a $1.75 target would buy roughly 1,829 clicks on the same budget, about 379 more visits without asking finance for another dollar.

What to watch for

On Google Ads, CPC is set at auction and Quality Score moves it directly. Raising relevance is usually cheaper than raising bids.

A falling CPC alongside a falling conversion rate is a warning, not a win: you are usually buying broader, less qualified traffic.

Compare CPC only within the same match type and intent tier. Brand terms and broad discovery terms are different products at different prices.

Frequently asked questions

How do I lower my cost per click?

Improve ad relevance and landing page experience so the platform rewards you with a better auction position at the same bid, tighten targeting so you stop paying for low-intent impressions, and cut the search terms that draw clicks but never convert.

Does a low CPC mean a campaign is working?

Not by itself. A cheap click that never converts is more expensive than a costly click that does. Judge on cost per acquisition and return on ad spend, and use CPC to explain the movement.
